Calling all quilters! Sewvivor Season 3 is here, and this time its a special QUILTER’S EDITION! Ah I’m so excited to make this announcement… ideas have been brewing in my head for weeks, and so much planning has been happening behind the scenes. This season is going to be amazing! Over the past year, I have become really interested in quilting, which is what inspired me to create a quilter’s edition.
What is Sewvivor?
It’s a sewing competition that I created on my blog, and its loosely inspired by the show Survivor. We’ve had two successful seasons so far, with some outstanding sewing and competitors. The main idea is that anyone can audition, “sewlebrity” judges help choose our contestants, we have 4 weeks of sewing competition with specific challenges, and a couple Sewvivor “twists” along the way. The judges and public vote for their favorites after each challenge. The winners score some amazing prizes at the end. To see more, check out these posts from the winners of Season 1: Miranda of One Little Minute and Season 2: Caila of Caila Made.
What is there to know at this point for Season 3?
This initial announcement is just to get the buzz going. Not all questions will be answered today. Everything you need to know will come in bits and pieces, every MONDAY in June. Then on July 7, the auditions post, I will recap everything. (Stay up do date with Sewvivor by clicking the button at the top right of my blog to always find the latest Sewvivor post. You can scroll down to see the entire Sewvivor feed). June is going to be jam packed full of exciting announcements. I’ll be teasing you with the details throughout June (the timeline, challenges, judges, sponsors and prizes). The auditions will be open in July. The sewing competition will occur in August and September.
How do I audition?
I will go over this again in detail when the auditions open, but if you’d like to start thinking about auditioning and preparing now… here’s what I can tell ya. Auditions are open July 7-21. You will come to my blog and enter via a link party (its very easy- and I’ll explain it more at auditions). That means it is required that you have a blog. It does not need to be a big, established blog. You can create a free blogger.com blog just for the purpose of auditioning for Sewvivor if you’d like. You can enter any quilted project that you have ever sewn, even if it was ten years ago or yesterday, and whether you’re experienced or a beginner. It doesn’t need to be a quilt- any quilted project will be accepted. (Quilted= pieced and/or quilted by machine or hand). You’ll need to write a NEW blog post, explain your project, tell us why you’re excited about auditioning for Sewvivor, and include pictures of your project. You’ll also include the Sewvivor competition button in the post. You are allowed to use and follow tutorials or patterns for your entry and throughout the competition.

Questions?
Your questions are always so helpful. With two seasons of Sewvivor under my belt, I’ve learned a lot on how to make this competition run smooth, but you might have a question about something I may not have addressed, so please ask away! Put your questions in the comments, and I will answer them there! I’ll also have a FAQ up with the audition post, where I’ll address all your questions.
See you next Monday when I reveal the TIMELINE and CHALLENGES!
Just for fun- here’s a look at last season’s judges. Who will be the judges this season? I can’t wait to reveal them in a few weeks! 🙂
