TODAY’S GIVEAWAY:

I have a very sweet, talented friend named Heather, and she is providing today’s giveaway. She is a rep for DoTerra Essential Oils, and you can check out her website HERE. She also has a great foodie blog called The Menu Mama.

She sent me two Introduction to Essential Oils kits, from DoTerra, valued at $26 each. The kit contains 5 ml bottles of Lemon,
Lavender, and Peppermint oils. One is for me to try out, and the other is for one lucky winner. I’d love to share with you a little bit about my experience with the oils that I received.

About a year ago, I switched my kids to a new pediatrician- one who has a more holistic approach to health care. The reason was because our son was allergic to dairy, and she came highly recommended from a friend whose children have similar issues. I wasn’t quite sure if this new approach was right for us- but what I did like was that it was causing me to do a little of my own research and thinking about my family’s overall health care. I’m very happy with our pediatrician! One day, as I was purchasing vitamins for my children, I noticed some cute little bottles of oil. I was curious about them, and the receptionist told me all about how great these oils are for many different uses. I didn’t buy any at the time since we’re trying to save our pennies, but my interest was peaked. Big thanks to my friend Heather, who sent me a sampler kit. I’ve had such a fun time getting to know the oils, and I just love them!

For our family, the main thing we like the oils for are massages. Almost every night, after reading books with the kids, I give them a mini massage right before tucking them in. They keep their plastic massaging tools in their night stands. This week, I introduced them to the oils. Peppermint is their favorite, because it “tingles and smells the best.” I put a small drop on both legs, and another on their back and neck. I’ve noticed that the peppermint oil helps them to relax as they fall into a deep sleep.

We’re not dependent on the oils for any one reason, but I look forward to learning about more benefits. They have definitely added to the overall mood of my kids at bedtime. This is great, because our second daughter has been having a hard time falling asleep lately. She is going through growing pains in her legs, and wakes up crying around midnight every night. With a quick dab of oil and massage, I’m quickly able to soothe her back to sleep.

I haven’t tried this yet, but I’m excited to…. The peppermint is safe to add as an ingredient (I will definitely try a couple drops in my double chocolate cookies this holiday season)!

Many people claim the oils help in these other areas:

*relieve insomnia
*soothe headaches
*bring down fevers
*soothe an upset stomach
*help relax
*uplift mood
*use on burns, cuts and scrapes to soothe and speed healing
*clear congestion
*clean and disinfect your home
*natural anti-oxidant
*and many more…
