Hi there Family Ever After readers! My name is Katie and I blog over at Katie{Did}It. I am SO excited to be here on Rach’s blog today to share my fun accent table make over! So let’s dive right in!
What do you think about that before and after? Big difference huh? I bought this table a few years ago for 50 bucks at T.J. Maxx (one of the places I stalk on a regular basis), and now that we are in a new (to us) house, I am redoing my decor…. And on a budget! Is there any other way to do it? So I decided that this cute little table could stand to be even cuter… Enter chevron.
Here is what you will need:
Primer
Spray Paint in Flat
Spray Paint in Gloss
Acrylic Craft Paint
Blue Painters Tape
Drop Cloth
Foam Brush
So the first thing I did, was lay out my plastic tarp and then spray my primer all over the table. I used Krylon’s Primer in grey since I was painting the table grey. I did not sand prior to priming it, but feel free to do so if you like.
I gave it one good coat, and let it dry. Once the primer is dry, give your table one coat of flat spray paint and then let dry. {** A little side note about the spray paint: I actually sprayed the whole table with gloss spray paint because I did not have any flat paint. Then, I went back and gave the whole table a coat of Krylon’s Matte Finish spray. It eliminates any glossy sheen and makes the paint appear flat.}
Once the paint is dry, remove your hardware, and tape the chevron pattern onto your drawers. Here is where you have a few choices. You can either spray paint the chevron stripes with the glossy paint in the same shade, or you can paint the chevron stripes in a glossy acrylic paint that is the same color, but a different shade. Which is what I did. I painted the chevron stripes a shade darker in gloss acrylic craft paint.
I gave the stripes a few coats so it would really show up, and then I was done! Once the stripes are dry, carefully remove the tape and put your hardware back onto the drawers. Doneskies!
So what do you think?! You like? I love it, and it was the perfect little accent to add in my living room. I hope you enjoyed this little tutorial, and I would love for you to stop by and say hi at my blog, Katie{Did}It, some time!
Thanks Rach, for having me!
