Aye. I have been avoiding this post for weeks. I just can’t bring myself to admit that its over.
The growing season, the fresh produce, the miracle of planting a seed.
The kids watering the garden. Troy picking all its treasures as he got home from work.
The memories, the deliciousness.
Tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, cucumbers, beans, peas, lettuce, sunflowers, herbs.
Gone. Dead. Somber.
Back to purchasing tasteless tomatoes at the grocery store.
I preserved as many things from our garden that I could.
They will last us into the first few months of winter.
I felt like a worker ant, gathering all my food awaiting the winter’s cold.
My good neighbor taught me how to can my tomatoes. She wanted to pass down the art. I hope I do it again. It was fun.
So here is my ode to our beloved garden. Until we meet again. We have big plans for you next year.
Here’s a little recipe:
Cut open a fresh pepper, and de-seed it.
Stuff it with cream cheese and a hard boiled egg.
Cut into rings and enjoy.
Weird? I thought so too, until I tried it 🙂

learning to can, from a very nice neighbor!

Our garden in a jar.
The end.

Once upon a time…

I started a blog. This is a tale of my projects, goals, and dreams. Thank you for taking a moment to stop by. I hope you have a beautiful day.

xoxo, Rach H.
